Applicants can form a roommate group in their Housing Portal as it is a step within the Housing Application.
Self-selection is made as a group - it is just how the system works! If you are looking for a single room or want to fill a bed space in a double, triple or quad room, you must create a group of "1" - just you.
The group leader will pick the room during self-selection. Any member of the roommate group can be the leader and switching who the leader is can be done by clicking a button in the Housing Portal. The roommate group can self-select during the earliest timeslot, regardless of which member has the earlier time.
Example: Joe, John and Jim are in a roommate group and Joe is the group leader. When timeslots are issued, Jim's timeslot is the earliest in the group. Joe, as the group leader, can login to the self-selection at Jim's timeslot to choose the room for the group. John and Jim don't need to do anything.
Yes! Each member of a roommate group will receive a timeslot. During the earliest timeslot, only the group leader will be able to make the room selection. It does not matter if the leader is the applicant with the best time, the earliest time applies to the entire group. Learn more about the process in the Application FAQs page.
In the Honors RLC, yes - all students in this community must meet the eligibility criteria for the Honors RLC.
For all other RLCs, as long as one of the group members is part of the Residential Learning Community (RLC), the entire group can participate in the RLC selection process. Please keep in mind that the group will only see the building or area designated to the specific community they are a part of.
Students are automatically eligible for RLC self-selection if they meet the criteria for an RLC. Most students are eligible for at least one RLC, while some may be eligible for multiple RLCs. There is nothing in the housing application that a student needs to do to note their interest in an RLC. If a student is eligible for an RLC, they will automatically receive a timeslot for the RLC self-selection day.
Students seeking to request a reasonable accommodation for their on-campus housing assignment must contact Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to have their request reviewed for approval. Housing & Residential Life partner closely with SAS on topics of accessibility in on-campus living and all requests must be verified through SAS’s accommodation review process. Depending on the accommodation, students may be hand assigned by our staff, or asked to participate in the self-selection process (if their accommodation can be met throughout campus).

Applicants can opt to create a group of one, themselves, and simply self-select a space during their timeslot. They may or may not be the first to choose a bed in a room - it's possible that someone chose one bed in a room already. When selecting a space like this, students will be able to see some profile information about the other student before confirming their choice. Any beds that are not filled during the self-selection process will be hand assigned by UNH Housing staff after self-selection has been completed.

Yes. Visit the Housing Portal and navigate to the "My Booking" tab. Select your upcoming booking or room assignment and you will see your roommate information.
After June 12, students will not be able to make changes to their housing application or roommate group. Students should proceed through the self-selection process at that point, and if they want to change rooms/roommates after selection, simply reach out to UNH Housing. We will add you to a wish list to be considered for a different space and will try to make moves happen if we can. We cannot guarantee that we can make changes, but we will try! We have moves that occur all the right up to move-in in August.
